Our Mission Statement
" Offering the Dhamma to the wider community "
In keeping with our Mission Statement, the Buddhist Society of the ACT dose not represent any specific community or ethnicity; rather, it offer everyone the opportunity to learn, observe and practise the basic concepts of Theravada Buddhism.
Our values
" Our values are based on the Theravada Buddhist tradition. These values include the three Universal Seals ( the premise of existence )"
1. The Four Noble Truths
2. The Eightfold Path
3. The Dependent Origination ( paticca samuppada ), the law of existence.
Our Practice
As a principle and practice to go with on the Eightfold Path, the Five Precepts ( Universal and Moral Codes ) serve as a voluntary guidance for life for lay devotees and are the basis of Buddhist morality.
Our meditation practice is on the platform of the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination ( paticca samuppada-the law of existence ) and Vipassana ( Insight ).
